Tony Romo Injury Serious?

Tony Romo was injured again last Monday night against a strong Redskins defense. Romo, coming off back surgery, has been in good form so far this season and it would be disappointing to say the least if he went down now after such great play this year. Romo's back was aggravated on Keenan Robinson's sack in the third quarter. Brandon Weeden, Romo's backup, did fill in for the star QB nicely, however, going 4/6 for 69 yards one TD and no interceptions. Cowboy owner and GM Jerry Jones told the media that Romo's injury is just a matter of pain tolerance at the moment. We will see if Jones's "encouraging" words will get Tony Romo, who was very unfortunate to have taken a knee to his surgically repaired back, back on the field Sunday against the Cardinals.

Greatest Quarterback of All Time?

Joe Montana is often hailed as the greatest QB of all time, however there has recently been talk about Peyton Manning becoming the G.O.A.T. Dan Marino, Tom Brady, and Joe Namath also come into the conversation. A quarterback's skill is not measured in rings or even wins. Archie Manning, Michael Vick (with the Falcons), and Chad Pennington are all examples of great quarterbacks who were never really considered elite because of their lack of wins. Archie Manning inherited a Saints team that had absolutely no talent, Vick came into a Falcons franchise that was on the verge of dying, and Pennington thrived in a Jets franchise that couldn't seem to win big games. And even though some of you haven't heard of these three quarterbacks they are all elite despite their lack of Super Bowl rings. Peyton himself has never won a ring and that is perhaps the biggest reason for people to take him out of consideration of the best QB of all time. However, Montana is 4-0 in SBs and Brady has been to 5 and won 3. Namath delivered his promise, Marino the most legendary QB when it comes to passing yards. Eli Manning, the one Manning who has a SB ring, is now being considered elite just because of SB rings. Not because of his performance while getting those rings. Rings and wins don't define a career, the general performance of that player do. Peyton, perhaps the smartest QB of all time. Brady, perhaps the most aware QB in NFL history. Montana, perhaps the most clutch QB ever to play football. These quarterbacks are the best ever.

Colt McCoy Leads Redskins Past Cowboys

The Washington Redskins earned their third win Monday night after beating the now 6-2 Cowboys in overtime. McCoy had an amazing game spreading the ball well, stretching the Dallas defense. The former Texas star may have earned the starting quarterback job even if RGIII does come back in week 9. Alfred Morris had a great game rushing, which opened the passing game for McCoy. Tony Romo was injured, but later came back in the 4th quarter. Romo threw a tragic interception on 4th and 3 on a crucial Cowboys' drive that had the potential to win or tie the game. DeMarco Murray had yet another 100+ yard game running the ball, making that his eight consecutive game. McCoy has taken advantage of Head Coach Jay Gruden's obvious disappointment of Kirk Cousins's and Robert Griffin's play. The Redskins defense also came up big against a high-powered offense, and even though they weren't able to keep Murray from crossing 100 yards, they showed up with a majestic pass rush that would have even scared Joe Montana into throwing an interception. The defensive backs did a good job covering their wide receivers. Dez Bryant's game can be awarded to his size and explosiveness that no defensive back in the NFL can overcome. The Redskins have a bright future with McCoy under center.

Jay Cutler's Time Up in Chicago?

It could be argued that Jay Cutler turned this Bears franchise around back when he came to the team in 2009. Bears GM Phil Emery told reporters "We are a 3-5 team and Cutler is a 3-5 quarterback." Bears legendary linebacker Brian Urlacher also said earlier this week that he believes Cutler is overrated and overpaid. Cutler has enjoyed a good career in Chicago, but it seems his time is up in the Windy City. Head coach Marc Trestman has stayed quiet despite all the trade and release rumors surrounding his "franchise" quarterback right now. Perhaps a deal for ex-Bear Josh McCown or for Jets quarterback Geno Smith could be reached before the trade deadline. However, such a trade seems very unlikely at the moment, but we will be monitoring the situation closely.

Michael Vick Takes Reigns in New York

After a terrible first eight weeks to the season, Rex Ryan has officially benched the youngster Geno Smith in favor for veteran quarterback Michael Vick. Smith played solid against a tough New England defense, but failed to impress in every other game this year. The Jets had high hopes for Geno, but for right now those dreams seem to be on hold with Rex Ryan making a final change to try to save his job. Vick started the generation of dual threat quarterbacks back in 2001 when he became the first African-American taken with the first pick overall. He reinvented the Falcons offense and after six seasons had led his talent-deprived team to the post-season twice. Vick dominated in his time in Atlanta, until unfortunately for him, he was convicted for forcing dogs to fight. He later returned to the NFL and played back up for Donovan McNabb for one year. After that year McNabb was sent to Washington and Vick was given his chance to shine once again. Vick played very well for two seasons, but eventually lost his job to his back-up Kevin Kolb. After two years of the quarterbacks battlign back and forth, the injury-riddled Kolb was traded to Arizona. Vick was officially named starter once again. However, Vick was injured and rookie quarterback Nick Foles took over. Foles led the Philly team well, leading to Vick's dishonorable release in 2013. Vick then signed with the Jets and now has earned his spot as Rex Ryan's starter.

The 2013 Dallas Cowboys

Jason Garret is on the hot seat with GM/owner Jerry Jones. The Cowboys seem to have found their defensive master in 70-year old Monte Kiffin. Kiffin's D has been the brightest part of the Texas star this season. The 'Boys offense has been relatively good. Jones and co. have finally resulted that running the ball is a vital part of an offense. 

                The offense, led by quarterback Tony Romo, is in a good position this far into the season. Romo has done a good job throwing the ball this season which was a very important part in the Cowboys' week 1 win over division rivals New York Giants. Dez Bryant has emerged as a top receiver for the ‘Boys and has been a top target for Romo so far. Austin has also been getting a lot of passes thrown his way, but he has not been his usual reliable self. He has been dropping easy catches. If Austin can return to his former form, the Cowboys passing game will excel. Dwayne Harris is supposedly Dallas's next star receiver. He features in remarkable speed and made a spectacular touchdown catch against the St. Louis Rams. DeMarco Murray is back from injury and as effective as ever. Murray now will team up with youngster Lance Dunbar in the backfield. Dunbar was a third-string two years ago and did not have a lot of playing time especially with new found diamond DeMarco Murray and veteran Felix Jones dominating the running game. However, last season, due to injuries to both Murray and Jones, Dunbar got his chance to shine. He did just that. He electrified defenses with his stunning speed. However, now that Murray is back, Dunbar will only get snaps when he needs a break or they need a speed back. Jason Witten and James Hanna will be a powerful tight end duo and will make big targets for Tony Romo.

                The defense is soaring with Kiffin's new defensive installment. Cornerbacks Brandon Carr, Orlando Scandrick, and Morris Claiborne are being relied on more than ever to cover their receivers more tightly so that the aggressive Cowboy's D can rush the quarterback with a nice amount of players. Claiborne and Carr have lived up to the hype shutting-down opponent receivers. Scandrick, however, has been a quality player so far, but is not yet on the same level as Carr and Claiborne. Last season, all starting linebackers were injured. Now that Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, and Justin Durant are all back and healthy they have made a huge impact in this doomsday D. The defensive line, now anchored by DeMarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher, is definitely getting pressure on the quarterback. Against St. Louis they had at least 6 sacks. J.J. Wilcox and Danny McCray have been chosen as the team's two starting safeties. They have done a wonderful job at covering receivers and stopping the run. Wilcox especially. He suspected as one of the worse players on the Cowboys roster coming into the season. But now, he is a 4 star starter. McCray is also helping the Cowboys win with a few great plays of his own. Look for the Cowboys to make a huge impact this season and win their division with a record of at least 10 wins.

King James vs. Air Jordan

LeBron James has made history by setting a record of a current 7 game streak of 30+ points in one game. Ever since he has gone on this unbelievable streak setting NBA records, many people believe James is as good as or better than Michael Jordan.

                LeBron James started his career in high school and decided to skip college and go straight to the pros. The Cleveland Cavaliers selected LeBron in the draft. James immediately showed the world of what he was capable of. In fact, he was so good he was nicknamed King James. The King decided to leave Cleveland and join superstar Dwayne Wade in Miami. It turns out Bosh had a similar idea and the three superstars got together to form the Big 3. Ever since LeBron came to Miami the Heat have made it to the NBA Championships both times and have one once against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Currently, LeBron is on a seven game streak of 30+ points setting NBA records and is on his way to his third straight NBA Championship appearance with the Miami Heat.

                Michael Jordan decided to go to college and even though he loved North Carolina, he decided to go to rival school North Carolina State. North Carolina State already had a few superstars there including James Worthy, who is currently an NBA legend, and David Thompson, who was considered one of the best players coming out of college, but wrecked his whole career with his off the court baggage. Anyways, Jordan showed his team he could play by knocking down shots and becoming a top scorer. North Carolina State fell out of favor with the collegiate rankings when Worthy declared he was going to run in the NBA draft. However, Jordan managed to pull his team up. He was knocking down shots getting rebounds and throwing accurate, but powerful passes. The Chicago Bulls were in luck when they drafted Michael Jordan. The Bulls were one of the worst teams and Jordan and Pippen were the start of the comeback. Michael Jordan teamed up with Scottie Pippen to surprise the league with a comeback. Michael Jordan was known for his abnormally long hang time and was nicknamed Air Jordan. At the end of Jordan’s career Rodman decided to jump on board. Dennis Rodman already played against Jordan and Pippen when he played with the Detroit Pistons and was known for his tough defense. Jordan ended up with six NBA Titles.

                LeBron and Jordan have a lot in common. They both are/were a part of a Big 3. (LeBron, Bosh, and Wade and Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman) They both could slam the ball very well. Each of them had a clutch factor. Both of them set NBA records. However, Jordan has six titles and LeBron has one. You might say that Jordan had his whole career to play for all six and LeBron has only had half a career. Well then, give me a call when LeBron wins six championships.
